After School

Blue School’s After School program is offered to students in Kindergarten through 8th grade at both 241 Water St. and 156 William St. It consists of two elements: Enrichment classes and Clubhouse, which are available at both locations. If you would like your child to be in After School but not participate in an enrichment class, they may enroll in Clubhouse.

At 241 Water, Clubhouse -- located in the After School room (room 206) on the second floor -- is an open environment where children of mixed ages share snacks and activities together. Activities may include outdoor play on the terrace or roof, art projects, board games, reading, and homework help. All students enrolled in After School will be dropped off in the After School room by a teacher after dismissal.

During After School at 156 William, students will gather in the Commons after dismissal. If they are enrolled in an enrichment class, they will be picked up by their teacher and dropped off in the Commons after class. If they are enrolled in Clubhouse, they will remain in the Commons -- where they can read, do homework, play games, or any other quiet activities -- until pickup.

Upon the conclusion of enrichment classes at 4:30pm, students who have self-dismissal permission will be dismissed.  Students who are not staying for extended day will need to be picked up by a parent or caregiver. At 4:40, all students enrolled in extended day will be taken to 241 Water Street where extended day is offered until 5:45pm.

Enrichment classes cover a wide range of choices, such as active sports, creative arts, technology, and science. These classes are offered on a first come, first served basis and require a minimum number of enrolled students in order to run. Each semester spans 16 weeks and changes/refunds are available for the first two weeks. Enrichment classes are an hour long unless otherwise noted. Clubhouse/Extended Day is offered every day.

Class offerings are grade-specific, and thus students will not register for classes in a building other than their own.

In our continuous effort to ensure that After School is engaging, fun, and productive, we welcome input from parents, teachers and children. Please contact the After School Coordinator for all After School related questions.

AFTER SCHOOL FAQs

How do I enroll my child in After School?

Enrollment forms are emailed to families and available for download from the school website each semester. Completed forms can be dropped off at the front desk or emailed to the After School Coordinator. After School payment can be made via check or through your FACTS account. Once your enrollment form and payment have been received, you will receive a confirmation receipt via email.

Can I send my child to After School without them being enrolled?
Yes, this is referred to as a “drop-in.” You must notify reception (reception@blueschool.org), your student’s teachers and the After School Coordinator (afterschool@blueschool.org) via email by 3:00 pm that day. Drop-ins incur a $40 fee. You may also purchase a 10-day pass from the After School Coordinator. This pass costs $320 and expires at the end of the school year.

How much does After School cost?
After School fees will be listed on the enrollment form and will vary by class. Enrichment classes are offered on a per semester basis for fees ranging from $480 to $650. Extended Day (until 5:30pm at 241 Water and until 5:00pm at 156 William) is offered for an additional cost.

Discounted rates are available for families receiving tuition assistance. Please contact our staff accountant, Domenica Ruggieri (domenicar@blueschool.org), directly for more information.

How can I contact the After School team?
