Who We Are
Blue School provides dynamically balanced education for seriously curious young people age 2 through grade 8. Every day at Blue School, masterful teachers balance opportunities to expand students’ academic mastery, creative thinking, and self and social intelligence, leaving no essential aspect of your child’s education to chance. Some of our methods have been around for centuries. Others spring from the latest breakthroughs in science and education. All draw upon the creative, animating spark of our Blue Man DNA. Blue School is located at 241 Water Street between Beekman Street and Peck Slip in the South Street Seaport neighborhood of Downtown NYC.
Our school is easily accessible by the 2/3/A/C/4/5/J/Z trains to Fulton Street, the 6 train to Brooklyn Bridge and the E train to World Trade Center. Many of our Brooklyn families also travel by the East River Ferry to Wall Street Pier 11.
Blue School enrolls approximately 300 students ranging from early childhood (age 2) through grade 7. In 2017-18, Blue School will enroll students in grade 8.
Our student-teacher ration is between 5:1 and 9:1 depending on age/grade. Average class size in the pre-primary program (age 2-4) is 13 and in the primary program (grade K-5) is 15.
Blue School is a provisional member of the New York State Association of Independent Schools ( NYSAIS ).

Blue School families live in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and New Jersey. Our South Street location is easily accessible by subway and ferry.

How can I visit Blue School?
We invite all families applying to our age 2 - grade 4 programs to visit Blue School for an admissions tour on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Sign up for a preferred tour date and time (age 2 - grade 4). Families applying to grades 5, 6 or 7, please contact Dawn Williams in our admissions office to schedule a family visit: firstname.lastname@example.org.
How old must my child be to apply to Blue School?
How can I start the application process?
You can apply directly online. The checklists linked to this page will assist you with the process. If your application deadline has passed, you are welcome to contact our admissions office directly to see if we are still accepting applications for the grade in which you are interested. Applications for the 2017-2018 school year are due on December 1, 2016.
Does Blue School offer tuition assistance?

Does Blue School have an after school program?
Yes. Blue School offers an extended day program until 5:30 pm, Monday-Friday. We also have a robust offering of after school classes and summer camps.
